Under general supervision, in a fun and fairly flexible telework environment, the incumbent will assist with the establishment of a wholistic regional groundwater level monitoring network; support the Department's Sustainable Groundwater Management Program by analyzing groundwater data and trends; process groundwater well construction submittals and requests using the Online System for Well Completion Reports and assign State Well Numbers; collect groundwater level measurements and water quality samples from wells at various sites, perform QA/QC, upload and manage data, develop Standard Operating Procedures; and perform correspondence with representatives from various Government Agencies and the general public. Some travel, overtime and overnight stays may be required. Work is balanced between office and field duties.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California's water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Seeking candidates with experience in the water focused subdisciplines of civil engineering and who are proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (VBA coding ability encouraged); ability to work collaboratively; proficient with other Microsoft Office programs and ESRI ArcGIS (GIS). Experience being in "Responsible Charge" of professional engineering work related to fixed works for irrigation, drainage, waterpower, water supply, flood control, or inland waterways is desirable, but not required. The Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or who have completed equivalent engineering courses normally covered in a standard four-year course preferred.
