State Maintenance bureau works with all Districts, provides support with projects though out the state. State maintenance bureau is responsible for overseeing the outdoor advertising, sign shop and signal lab to provide these services throughout the state.

This position will be responsible for the overall installation, inspection, and maintenance of electronic traffic control monitoring devices/systems on state maintained roadways.

This position will install, inspect and maintain electronic traffic control monitoring devices/systems on state maintained roadways.

The Traveling Public.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have preferred experience/education in the following areas:

* Experience within the electrical field.
* Experience with programming and working with electronic equipment.
* Working knowledge of the use of hand held tools and the safe operation of a bucket truck.
* Comfortable working outdoors and around live traffic.
* Comfortable with frequent travel.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of relevant experience. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Business reference check and Driver's License verification are also required and employment is conditional pending results.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.

Frequent Travel is required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions: hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow. Exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; exposure to temperatures up to 150 degrees around oil distributor operations; high speed/high volume traffic and loud noises; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; standing for extended periods of time doing traffic control or walking long distances for litter control; hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; some climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling to perform job duties; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also be performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and is subject to call out for weather, accidents and/or emergencies on short notice; frequent temporary assignments that require travel and extended overnight stays to include weekends, holidays, and overtime are required. Willingness to accept change of geographical assignments; interaction with the public.
