Engineering Technician, Image Quality

We are seeking a driven and motivated Image Quality Engineering Technician to join our Camera Hardware Engineering team. This individual will work closely with multiple engineering teams and is expected to drive validation tasks and work independently with minimal supervision. The work will include hands-on engagement involving mechanical fixturing, device calibration, lab-based camera testing, and executing image quality field testing. The ideal candidate is familiar with basic lighting and imaging, is a self-starter, and is able to learn new concepts quickly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct lab-based image quality testing for prototype camera modules, interfacing sub-assemblies, and vehicles
• Work with cross-functional vehicle test teams to organize and execute image quality field tests at ADAS test tracks
• Maintain calibration and documentation for camera/light measurement devices
• Construct and install testing fixtures to ensure accurate and reliable test setups
• Efficiently handle competing priorities, organize workload, and meet critical deadlines
• Uphold a clean and organized laboratory space, actively managing inventory to optimize efficiency
• Collaborate and work closely with the broader camera hardware engineering team to develop and implement test setups, ensuring alignment with test requirements
• Autonomously conduct camera tests, collecting and recording data for analysis
• Conduct triage on camera prototype vehicles, assemblies, and modules, identifying and reporting any issues to relevant stakeholders

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in photography/film or image quality-related applications
• Understanding of lighting, camera/imaging fundamentals, and keen attention to detail to apply directly to reliable image quality testing
• Proficiency in installation and operation of various sensors and measurement devices with a comprehensive understanding of their functionalities
• Fluent and proficient with common hand tools, power tools, and hardware for various assembly tasks
• Expertise in teardowns and the repair of camera components, with a strong emphasis on constructing fixture assemblies to mechanically constrain cameras for testing
• Good documentation skills to ensure easy data access and organization
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, facilitating effective communication and reporting
• Some experience with Linux command line interface, Mac OS, running automation scripts, and debugging issues
• Some familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping methodologies for fixturing
• Valid driver's license required

Expected Compensation

$24.40 - $65.40/hour, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
