Jacobs is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our collaborative team in Waterbury, CT. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in management of the sanitary sewer collection system. Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of specialized engineering and sanitary sewer collections work and office duties in support our contract deliverables.

Primaries duties includes but are not limited to:
• Reviewing and issuing sanitary permits (sewer repairs, sewer connections, sewer disconnections)
• Researching, interpreting, editing engineering maps and drawings
• Performing preliminary/final design plans and as-built reviews
• Supporting the sanitary sewer collections team with data collection/interpretation, monthly/annual reporting, customer service responses
• Researching records, field data, and records of streets, sanitary sewers, manholes, storm systems
• Investigating and responding requests from citizens in person, virtual, and in writing
• Supporting the Capacity, Management, Operation, Maintenance (CMOM) activities (reports, interaction with the public, historical data research)
• Performing field investigations for sewer collection and storm water collection systems
• Organizing and maintaining electronic and physical project files

• At least three (3) years' experience in a related field such as civil engineering, public works, surveying, or planning
• Demonstrated GIS/computer experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and formal training that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Must possess valid Driver's License with no major infractions
• Must possess computer and software program skills (e.g., Microsoft software packages) to conduct, compile, and/or generate documentation/reports.
• Adequate engineering principles, practices, and methods applicable to office and field work involving the management of sanitary sewer collection systems.

Ideally, You'll Also Have:
• Knowledge of the Geographic Information System (GIS)
• Knowledge of assets management systems such as CityView, CityWorks

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
