Under the general direction of the IT Manager II, the IT Sup II works to manage, develop, implement, operate and maintain critical applications on the mainframe system, HCL Notes and auxiliary systems. The IT Sup II will maintain these critical applications while extending, converting and/or migrating the capabilities to the web and mobile platforms using modern programming languages and operating systems that adhere to open standards or application programming interfaces. The IT Sup II works with other staff and bureaus aimed to benefit the overall organizations within and external to the CDSS. The primary duties of this position fall within the Software Engineering domain.

The following includes the essential duties and/or responsibilities of the IT Sup II position:

• Directs and sets the vision for the team. Collaborates with ISD and program leadership to set priorities for team's delivery to achieve solutions and strategic goals. Works closely with project managers, technical supervisors to plan and deliver and support technologies solutions to support CDSS's mission.
• Manages the day-to-day workload of the team, working to remove impediments and ensuring timely decision making and staff accountability. Ensures that staff comply with departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Works closely with the technical leads and architects to establish and support long-term organizational solutions- and technology policies and procedures. Supports the development of appropriate governance strategies for solutions and data management and operations activities.
• Oversees licensing and cost monitoring of the ISD solutions, developing strategies to proactively ensure appropriate funding and usage to avoid service disruption.
• Develops road maps and metrics to track progress toward project goals and overall solutions and operations responsibilities.
• Coaches and develops staff, promotes a collaborative environment, and maintains good culture across the team.

Telework / Remote Work Information: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer's markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
• Experience supervising or leading a team responsible for solutions development utilizing HCL Notes, ADABAS
• Experience managing after-hours support for IT Systems with time-sensitive information.
• Experience coaching and mentoring team members to help them grow, as well as knowledge of performance management techniques.
• Experience supporting or executing solution or governance processes and strategies.
• Experience working in a collaborative environment, building strong and effective relationships with IT and business units to achieve project goals.
• Strong strategic, analytical, collaboration and creative abilities.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, Agile and project management best practices.
• Ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, honesty, and make timely decisions while maintaining positive and trusting working relationships
• Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and adapt to changing assignments and priorities, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated ability to work independently, think logically and creatively, apply a range of analytical and research tools, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, make sound recommendations, and develop business requirements based on the recommendations.
