Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  5. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use the results to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  6. Incorporate industry-standard equipment, tools and practices into lessons to ensure alignment to varied post-secondary options.
  7. Provide students with instruction on industry-standard business operations, soft skills development and provide opportunities, where appropriate, for students to earn industry certifications.
  8. Facilitate planning and implementation of program MVP pitch and final pitch nights with students, campus administrator, district leadership and board of directors.
  9. Collaborate with local public and private institutes of higher education.
  10. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  11. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s)


Student Growth and Development
  1. Instruct students using industry theory and practice, while incorporating problem-solving methods, teamwork activities and workplace readiness skills.
  2. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  3. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal evaluations.
  4. Prepare students for post-secondary industry experiences by teaching industry-recognized standards. Administer industry-recognized certification examinations approved by the District to students, as appropriate.
  5. Support professional mentors/coaches on the delivery of instructional practices and use of tools for specific lessons in which they will be teaching and/or mentoring students.
  6. Work closely with business partners to establish, coordinate and promote student involvement in learning experiences and internship assignments within the profession.
  7. Participate in activities designed to promote students' acquisition of professional experiences.
  8. Assume responsibility for Career and Technical Education student organizations as a co-curricular program and involve students with professional associations affiliated with their specialty.
  9. Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.


Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain a safe, hazard-free classroom and workplace environment.
  • Train all individuals accessing tools and equipment on proper use and safety procedures for each.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and systems for access and use of learning spaces, equipment and services.

Communication:
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, administrators, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues throughout the district, students, parents, mentors, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly to all audience types.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to recruitment of students into the program is essential.

Professional Growth and Development:
  • Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement, including participation in staff development activities.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required in a timely fashion.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:

Potential travel between secondary campuses. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain control in stressful situations. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds and movement of classroom equipment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned]

Valid Texas certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) preferred

Industry experience in business, finance, marketing preferred

Trained in district required curriculum trained and willingness to attend annual training as requested by the district

Demonstrated competency in the subject area assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of subject assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Knowledge of business industry theory and practice

Proficient in industry specific software, or willing to attend training

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Ability to coordinate, prepare and provide support for professional mentors and curriculum unit coaches

Ability to organize and plan program and community events

Ability to build and maintain partnerships with community, business and industry

Ability to market program to students, staff, parents and business community

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
