Environmental Service Aide

Encompass Health Altoona is seeking an Environmental Service Aide to join its housekeeping team. The Environmental Service Aide maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in all areas of the Hospital in accordance with our quality standards, as well as local, state and federal regulations. This position is 32 hours a week with benefits and PTO.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs routine and isolation cleaning procedures according to infection control standards.
• Cleans and empties waste receptacles according to infection control standards.
• Understands and institutes standards for cleanliness and sanitation.
• Uses chemicals properly in accordance with manufacturer's labels.
• Maintains and monitors equipment and supplies; stores all supplies in proper areas.
• Collaborates with Nursing and Admissions and ensures patient rooms are ready for patient arrivals.
• Demonstrates competent use of proper body mechanics in all activities.
• Completes floor care including stripping, buffing, waxing and carpet care as required.
• Delivers and distributes linen to patient care and treatment areas.
• Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.

Qualifications

Training and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous housekeeping experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Good visual acuity and ability to communicate
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis and ability to push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds, which includes lifting, pushing and/or pulling equipment, supplies and tools
• Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting pushing and/or pulling are undertaken that exceeds these minimum requirements
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking
• Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel and crouch

Benefit eligible position. Medical, dental, and vision coverage effective on the date of hire. PTO and 401(k) option. Starting rate $15.50/hr., relevant experience will be of consideration.
