SCI is currently seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team in the support of the manufacture of advanced military composite components. The work may include interfacing with customers and regulatory agencies regarding Seemann Composites' EHS program. Support at the shop floor will be required to guide safe work practices. This position will be exposed to information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

The EH&S Manager provides technical expertise and support/guidance to personnel to aid in the elimination of workplace injuries, provide environmental management and ensure regulatory compliance. The EH&S Manager reports to the VP of Quality and Supply Management. The EH&S Manager will ensure the EH&S strategy aligns with company goals and objectives and with OSHA and other applicable regulatory agencies.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety Health & Environment or related field.
  • Formulate, enhance, or refine company EH&S policies and programs considering applicable laws, Seemann Composites policy, and site-specific concerns.
  • Examine work environments for various physical, chemical, biological and environmental hazards and stresses and make recommendations for improvements to process and equipment.
  • Perform environmental surveys such as air sampling / monitoring, noise surveys, reviews of SDSs, indoor air quality surveys and ventilation testing.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance in the design of protective equipment for uses on processes and machinery to eliminate and reduce safety and health hazards as needed.
  • Consult and advise company personnel concerning safety or environmental risks that require escalated management attention and action.
  • Interpret OSHA standards and regulations and maintain cooperative relationship with OSHA.
  • Conduct health and safety training courses for supervisors and employees as needed.
  • Assist in the investigation of safety and health complaints and incidents.
  • Ensure site audits and inspections are conducted in conformance with safety and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Develop corrective actions for stresses that impair employee health and efficiency.
  • Monitor work practices and work environment for Occupational Health and Safety compliance with emphasis on respiratory protection and hearing conservation.
  • Due to the nature of our work, United States Citizenship, is required.


Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Five or more years of Environmental Health & Safety experience required.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interface with functional team members, executive management and customer representatives.
  • Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and Federal / State regulations.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance.
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • First aid certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001.
  • Professional competencies in hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency prep and response and training and development.

Essential Physical Requirement:
  • Ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces and lift loads of approximately 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop or climb as necessary to perform required inspections.
  • Stand; bend, kneel, walk, stoop, crouch, and sit
  • Use hands and finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Repeat the same movements.
  • Bend and twist their body.
  • Climb stairs/ladders.
  • Be able to lift, push, pull, or occasionally carry heavy objects.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 to 70 pounds occasionally
  • Vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception ability to adjust focus.
