Job Summary

The Environmental Health Safety Specialist will interface with all levels of plant management and the hourly workforce, while administering plant-wide safety programs for our Moody, AL repair facility through ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 programs, regulatory compliance, implementation and maintenance of Corporate policy, and plant specific loss prevention activities.

This position will maintain Environmental Health and Safety responsibility for regulation administration including: Federal, OSHA, Alabama Environmental Regulations, and any other relevant State or local laws.

Responsibilities

  • Audit safety compliance and assist management in developing and implementing loss prevention actions and programs to address audit findings. Track progress of all compliance activities.
  • Assist all levels of plant management with development and implementation of department specific and general loss prevention activities and training programs designed to improve overall safety performance.
  • Implement corporate or division Environmental, Safety, and Health directives.
  • Provide or facilitate appropriate compliance training.
  • Review proposed new manufacturing equipment, processes and materials with regard to regulatory and corporate policy compliance and make recommendations to plant management.
  • Provide guidance / leadership to the Safety Committees and other safety focus groups.
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis and/or Risk Assessments, Ergonomic Assessment.

  • Clearly and professionally communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and hourly employees throughout the facilities.
  • Plan and schedule time to accomplish assigned responsibilities.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


Experience Required:
  • EHS Experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • OSHA Laws and Knowledge experience required
  • Familiarity with using Lean and/or Six Sigma tools to develop strategy and solve problems is desirable
  • Experience with quality or willingness to learn quality control is required
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to plan and complete work with minimal supervision and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and training skills
  • High School diploma or GED required.
