Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Scientist 2, we'll count on you to

  • Lead environmental work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's life cycle (from development and initiation to close-out)
  • Prepare, plan and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, and similar reports/documents
  • Take responsibility for many aspects of a small project or a single aspect of a larger project or work independently on medium-size projects
  • Determine the level of environmental analysis required for proposals
  • Coordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and schedule
  • Manage or collect project-related data, which may include research, constraints mapping, leading field surveys for threatened and endangered species and wetland delineations, map reviews, etc.
  • Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods
  • Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance Write or review environmental reports
  • Collaborate with project design teams, project managers, and other environmental and cultural resource experts to develop creative design and mitigation solutions for a wide variety of infrastructure projects in sensitive environmental areas.
  • Work with project managers, accounting, GIS, operational and business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Perform other task management related duties as needed


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must


Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, research, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • USFWS Permit for various species
  • Experience supervising staff, leading field teams, and preparing proposals
  • Experience in regulatory permit coordination and agency consultation (ex. USACE, USFWS, COA)
