What You'll Do:

The Adjutant General's Department is looking for an experienced Environmental Specialist 2 (Land Rehabiliation and Maintenance Coordinator- LRAM) professional. Successful candidates will have knowledge and safety practices pertaining to land rehabiliation and maintenance.
  • Serves as the Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) Coordinator for the Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program
  • Provides technical expertise necessary to plan and execute land repair, maintenance and reconfiguration projects; coordinates LRAM component activities with the ITAM Program Coordinator and other relevant installation offices
  • Conducts field surveys to identify and prioritize potential LRAM project sites
  • Utilizes input from the ITAM Coordinator, Range Division staff, and other installation personnel
  • Designs LRAM projects to sustain training lands for current and future training and testing
  • Develops resource requirements (e.g., labor, materials and equipment), cost estimates, project timelines and any required environmental documentation
  • Collaborates with ITAM Program Coordinator, Range Division and other installation personnel during project development to ensure all relevant concerns are adequately addressed
  • Oversees all phases of LRAM projects implementation and ensures that all LRAM activities are coordinated with ITAM Program Coordinator, and that all personnel engaged in LRAM activities comply with range and environmental regulations
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of LRAM methodologies employed
  • Provides recommendations to the ITAM Program Coordinator regarding future modification of LRAM practices and LRAM component input for the ITAM annual work plan, five-year plan, and budget plan
  • Inputs format and submission timeline and will follow guidelines set forth by the ITAM Program Coordinator
  • Provides monthly and annual summaries of LRAM component activities and accomplishments
  • Disseminates information and knowledge gained as LRAM Coordinator by communicating with other LRAM components, publishing reports/articles, and presenting briefings at professional meetings such as SRP Annual Workshop
  • Prepares and maintains a project/work log, by fiscal year, of individual LRAM projects from inception through implementation to evaluation
  • Conducts periodic searches of available technical information in order to update standard designs, civilian construction industry, engineering and agricultural technical documents, periodicals, and communication with other LRAM component coordinators
  • Compiles and maintains data on crew and equipment capabilities
  • Provides ITAM Program Coordinator and RDH with cost comparison estimates of in-house versus outsourcing LRAM activities

Qualifications
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the applications. The ideal candidate, at minimum, must meet one of the following options .

Option 1

4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to positions in departments of transportation & natural resources) which included responsibility for conducting compliance monitoring surveys &/or inspections/reviews or investigations, or review of permit applications relative to oil & gas well operations or injection, annular disposal & saltwater injection wells & enhanced recovery projects or coal mining, or solid/hazardous waste sites or industrial & municipal wastewater dischargers, or conducting of historical &/or archaeological research or other research studies to evaluate impact of proposed transportation projects on historic properties or cultural resources, or collecting, compiling & preparing various environmental assessments, evaluations, reports & related documents. training & experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.

Option 2

Baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field or mathematics with education to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.

Option 3

Positions involved in providing financial, technical & administrative assistance for planning, design & implementation of environmental infrastructure & pollution abatement, & prevention projects, applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration, public relations/marketing, political science or communications, or have 4 yrs. exp. in position involving public contact to explain policies, procedures & programs of agency, writing of promotional &/or explanatory publications & materials, budgeting, contract administration & working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation.
