Description:
JOB PURPOSE: Assisting the physician in performance of invasive electrophysiology procedures. Has thorough knowledge of all EP Lab equipment and maintenance of it while administering direct/indirect care to patients undergoing basic and advanced electrophysiology procedures. Provides direct and indirect care during established procedures and sedation for patients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides technical assistance for all basic and advanced electrophysiology procedures, which include supply, equipment operation, monitoring, imaging and use of medical devices.
2. Scrub assist for all EP procedures including preparation of supplies and sterile instruments, preparation and maintenance of the sterile field, and preparation and manipulation of EP catheters, guide-wires and devices.
3. Performs various functions outside the sterile field and EP studies.
4. Rhythm recognition and knowledge of appropriate therapy.
5. Monitors patient hemodynamic status using ECG monitoring including interpretation of data.
6. Knowledgeable in electrophysiology recording systems to include pacing and measuring of electrocardiogram signals.
7. Maintains medication supplies and administers medication under the supervision of a physician.
8. Maintains electrophysiology equipment.
9. Assist with inventory control as directed by supervisor or manager.
10. Assist with departmental process improvement project as directed by supervisor or manager.
11. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.
Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 years Cath Lab or EP Experience
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current GA RN license, RCIS or RCES
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: BCLS and ACLS
