JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

The Equipment Assistant, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse, and/or the Physician, is responsible for providing, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, collecting information and communicating effectively. The Equipment Assistant in the Respiratory Therapy Department will be responsible for the cleaning and assembly of equipment, and the maintenance and storage of supplies in the areas designated. The role of the Equipment Assistant also includes patient advocacy and performance improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous hospital experience (not essential) preferred
• Must attend Hospital in-service training classes as specified
• Must demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of the processing of respiratory care equipment and supplies following in-service training
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card
