A Paint Manufacturing Equipment Engineer in the Production Engineering team will be a part of operating, sustaining, and improving some of the most automated manufacturing equipment in the world. The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn new skillsets in the position. The expectation is that engineers will start with strengths in paint or powder coat processes, or familiarity with sustaining ovens + in a given field (AUTOCAD, robotics, PLC Programming, vision, Python, HMI scripting, etc) and then learn all other areas from those who work with them. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts of the automated equipment.


Responsibilities
  • Sustain 24 by 7 production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime, specifically focusing on the powder coat/paint systems
  • Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens and Beckhoff). Program and teach industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc) Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pick-and-place, dispense, fastening, welding and conveyance applications
  • Drive continuous improvement of automated equipment to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost metrics
  • Conduct risk assessments and lead safety evaluations for equipment prior to launch
  • Preferred working experience in Paint Shops, or tools such as Atlas Copco Fastening tools
  • Working experience on Powder Supply Systems, Powder Reclaim Systems, Dust Collector Systems, Humidifier Systems, IR Ovens, PreTreatment Systems, Conveyor Systems
  • Sealant Robotic Dispense Systems
  • Working experience in SolidWorks AutoCAD
  • Support 24/7 production operations as needed


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with automation and electromechanical systems
  • Experience with PLCs (Siemens, SICAR protocol) and Safety PLCs
  • Preferred experience in programming robots (Cartesian, SCARA, and Articulated)
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, root cause analysis, and problem-solving under tight timing constraints
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD packages such as SolidWorks and CATIA is a plus
  • Paint Shops experience in equipment technical data and preventative maintenance

      $72,000 - $237,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
