DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a skilled position as an Equipment Operator B responsible for assisting the Diesel Mechanic in the repair, maintenance, servicing of vehicles, and other motorized equipment necessary for the operations of the Forest District. In addition, you will also be operating heavy-duty trucks and equipment in the construction, maintenance, and repair of state forest roads, trails, boundaries, facilities, and deer fencing projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are Monday - Wednesday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Thursday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A; or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more: or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a Class A Commercial driver's license (CDL).
