Equipment Repair Specialist, School of Dentistry

Primary Purpose:

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry's Dental Facilities Management team is seeking applicants for an Equipment Repair Specialist. The position will ensure that all dental equipment in the School of Dentistry is installed, repaired, and maintained at a level that guarantees the efficient and effective operation of the school's clinical facilities (preclinical laboratories, student and faculty clinics). The position will work within a team environment to collaborate in supporting and maintaining the School of Dentistry facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain proper operation of dental equipment in the School of Dentistry
• Follow preventive maintenance schedule including inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs of all laboratory and clinical equipment
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all medium and large equipment items and inventory of parts for dental equipment
• Maintain radiation protection regulations/certification on all radiography equipment
• Filter and route School of Dentistry work orders and respond to repair calls and correct problems within 24 hours if parts are available
• Handle repairs in-house whenever possible or return equipment to manufacturer for repair
• Assist with all renovation projects in the school
• Train students in proper use of dental equipment by providing lectures and supervising students as needed
• Assist with on-site licensing examinations (dental boards) including setup and maintenance during testing and cleanup after testing
