Job Description for Our Award Winning Client:

Our Award Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in the construction industry, renowned for numerous awards and achievements, is currently seeking a proficient Structural Steel Estimator. This role requires an adept individual capable of efficiently evaluating project costs and potential profitability while utilizing their comprehensive knowledge of the steel industry and construction methodologies to enhance bid positioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Production Department to review and update estimating standards and methodologies.
  • Foster and maintain robust relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and services.
  • Lead and manage estimation teams on complex projects, emphasizing precision and adherence to timelines.
  • Develop strategies for accurate material and labor take-off from structural and architectural drawings.
  • Create detailed estimate summaries and cost recap sheets using advanced Excel skills.
  • Generate preliminary connection designs based on member capacities and loads.
  • Ensure accurate and competitive cost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects, including changes on awarded projects.
  • Secure pricing for specialty items beyond the estimating software database.
  • Oversee the distribution and verification of project drawings and specifications to align the team on project requirements.
  • Accommodate overtime work as needed to meet critical bid deadlines.

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the steel industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of steel fabrication processes, welding, and constructability.
  • Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex design documents and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability in using Excel for creating detailed documents and preliminary connection design.
  • Excellent time management skills with the capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team setting.
