Responsibilities

The Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing events as directed by the College of Nursing Director of Strategic Engagement/Chief of Staff.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing academic and non-academic events by coordinating with venues, reserving rooms, entering event calendar requests, assisting with invitations and mailings, preparing needed materials, etc.
  • Assists various College of Nursing offices with planning and organizing participation in conferences, symposiums, summits, both externally and at the university.
  • Works with Finance/Administration staff to help execute contracts, order signage, promotional and educational materials, inventory supplies, and create policies/procedures regarding conference logistics.
  • Exercises professional judgment when planning/developing events and services.
  • Formulates, interprets, and implements policies and procedures governing the management and implementation of events, as well as assists in creating new standard operating procedures to include, but not limited to updating existing databases and creating/maintaining usable databases for events (information includes vendors, venues, procedures, etc.).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to six (6) years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Previous experience organizing events of varying sizes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with both internal university partners and external vendors and clients.
  • Experience in complex, multi-faceted event planning with excellent organizational skills and flexibility to change.
  • Experience with service procurement policies and practices and effective vendor management.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and flexibility.
