The Phoenix Convention Center and Venues is one of the premier convention facilities in the United States. It hosts a diverse range of conventions, trade shows, meetings, and entertainment events. The Phoenix Convention Center is seeking a passionate and professional personal to join their team as an Event Manager. This position facilitates and coordinates all event related activities for conventions, trade shows, concerts, festivals, and meetings at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Duties include:
  • Explaining policies and procedures for use of Phoenix Convention Center facilities to clients and the general public.
  • Advising clients and their contractors on setup options and types of materials needed to achieve desired results.
  • Preparing checklists of lessee requirements for distribution to all internal support staff and contractors, such as sales, event services, electrical and accounting.
  • Inputting, retrieving, and updating event setup information.
  • Producing event reports through a computerized event management system.

SALARY

Pay Range: $27.49 - $42.64 per hour.

Hiring Range: $27.49 - $36.84 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in coordinating a variety of events and activities at a convention center, theater, hotel, or other large public use facility,
  • Including one year at a supervisory or lead level.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, theater, facility management or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings will be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Large event planning experience at a convention center, hotel or other large public use facility.
  • Experience with computerized event management information systems.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP).
  • Venue Management School Graduate.
  • Member of the International Association of Venue Managers.
  • Customer service experience.
