Position Description:
  • Seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who is willing to learn and take on new tasks, as needed, to serve as Executive Assistant to Chief Legal Counsel (50%) and the Executive Director of Special Ed Compliance (50%).


Reports To:
  • Chief Legal Counsel and the Executive Director of Special Ed Compliance


Scope of Responsibility:
  • Managing calendars for Legal Department and Sped Compliance, scheduling meetings, gathering and organizing background materials for meetings.
  • Maintaining and managing the District’s contract database.
  • Drafting routine correspondence, proofreading various types of documents with attention to detail.
  • Locating and organizing documents for various types of record requests, including, but not limited to,data requests from state and federal agencies, public record requests, subpoenas, and outside attorneys.
  • Hearing prep - copying, organizing exhibit books, taking notes at hearings.
  • Taking notes for special education meetings and preparation of notices for special education cases, as assigned.
  • Assist in gathering and preparing information on a wide variety of topics, as assigned.
  • Answering phones and greeting guest.
  • Assist Chief Legal Counsel and ED of Sped Compliance in troubleshooting employee and student problems that arise during the school year.
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills and Qualifications:

  • student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations.


Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:
  • Minimum of 5 years professional secretarial experience
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Google Suite
  • Valid Driver’s License

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in the legal field as a legal secretary or paralegal; knowledge of legal and/or special education terminology.


Physical Involvement:
  • Sitting is required most of each workday. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor.
