JOB DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

This position provides support to the Superintendent. The Executive Assistant to the Superintendent must have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates the planning and design of a communications network for the district in coordination with all departments.
  • Develops and maintains coalitions and networks among parents, businesses, community/civic organizations, and other support groups to provide input and information about district policies, programs, and processes.
  • Represents the Superintendent as requested in dealing with public relations and other activities.
  • Conducts meetings, coordinates services between and among departments, and supports the Superintendent in solving complex matters affecting the entire district.
  • Coordinates and addresses assignments in response to requests from parents, staff, Board, and the Superintendent's office.
  • Attends meetings in the place of the Superintendent to help further the mission of the district; represents the district in major events.
  • Manages a district calendar.
  • Provides leadership in supporting the Superintendent and other units in planning and managing department initiatives.
  • Works cooperatively through other offices in processing referrals/assignments and in receiving requests for support, as approved by the Superintendent.
  • Reviews correspondence and prepares responses as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher; 3 or more years of experience working in a multifaceted organization.
  • Ability to facilitate/coordinate activities, meetings, and projects.
  • Successful school or district turnaround preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to organize, plan, implement projects, activities, and follow through each to completion.
  • Experience equivalent to that normally achieved through a minimum of five years of experience participating in a public or private sector while having demonstrated excellent administrative skills.
  • Employment experience gained in the private employment sector may be considered.
