The Executive Assistant serves as the primary administrative support person in the Executive Offices of the University of Vermont Health Network and/or University of Vermont Medical Center. The incumbent will typically support one President level position, two University of Vermont Health Network/Medical Center Executives or one Network/Medical Center Executive and a large organizational function. The Executive Assistant performs traditional and advanced administrative functions to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization with a high degree of confidentiality.
The Executive Assistant receives functional guidance from executive level leadership and interacts closely with the Executive Office Manager, office support staff, Board Members, Network Executives and external business and regulatory contacts. The incumbent works as part of a dynamic executive administrative support team and partners directly and indirectly with departments across the organization and other professional staff outside of the organization.
The Executive Assistant performs their work with a high degree of independence in a high-paced work environment. They must have the ability to anticipate needs of the leaders they support and seamlessly manage and respond to multiple, competing priorities autonomously.
Education:
Associate degree in business, office management or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
Five to seven years of progressively responsible office experience in order to have gained the necessary interpersonal skills to work effectively with executive leadership.

- Must have a discreet, professional demeanor and be reliable, diplomatic, trustworthy, and able to handle confidential material or information in a sensitive manner.
- Ability to think critically and creatively.
- Must have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines calmly and efficiently.
- Must possess competent writing and editing skills along with a basic competency in mathematics. Capacity to develop some specialized knowledge relevant to the department, including medical terminology, may be required.
- High-level of competency with Microsoft Windows Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) is required. Knowledge of OneNote, SharePoint and other virtual platforms (MS Teams) is preferred. Advanced computer and keyboarding skills are essential.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as multiple phone lines, audio-visual equipment, and copiers.
