Position Summary



The Executive Director of Gift Planning provides leadership for planned giving for MMCF, and raises major gifts from assigned prospects. The position works collaboratively with Directors of Development, and other foundation and hospital staff to increase funding support from individuals and families primarily, but also from foundations and corporations to advance the mission of our hospitals and the philanthropic goals and strategic plans of the MMCF.



The Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) raises and stewards philanthropic support for both hospitals and all associated clinics and services.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Supports and operationalizes the mission statement, vision and values of the organization and MMCF and ensures that these elements are incorporated into his/her respective role.
  • Actively strengthens and promotes the mission, values, and reputation of the organization.
  • Develops, in conjunction with the Foundation President and others as appropriate, a donor solicitation strategy for prospects and donors in portfolio, and raises major gifts through bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and other complex gift arrangements, as well as cash gifts.
  • Oversees and manages all aspects of high-level donor relationships for assigned donor prospects, including research, qualification, case statements, cultivation, and stewardship to foster sustained relationships with MMCF and its programmatic initiatives.
  • Maintains and regularly updated the data base on activity with assigned donors and prospects. Works to ensure the integrity of the donor and prospect files and database.


*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements



Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Five Minimum 3 years' successful experience responsible for multiple cost centers and programs.
  • Minimum 5 years' care management leadership experience.
  • 5-years of successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising preferably in the non-profit healthcare arena with emphasis on major donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of planned giving practices and programs.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the Foundation.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
  • Successful experience in prospecting and identifying new donors as well as developing, cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.


Education/Licensure/Certification:



• Bachelor's Degree required.



• Professional credentials or advanced degrees are desirable.
