The Richmond Flying Squirrels are looking for a dynamic, visionary leader who thrives on building high-performance teams and driving sales while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and people-first culture to propel our nationally ranked ticket sales team to new heights. The Executive Director of Ticket Sales & Strategy will be responsible for developing and leading a high-performing minor league baseball ticket department during the transition from the current facility to a multi-purpose venue, CarMax Park, set to open in 2026.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and aggressive leader, who is highly organized and strategic, exceptionally personable, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients. They will plan and execute strategies for the future, build and meet required deadlines, and produce successful outcomes, using the values of collaboration, customer-centric service, and a results-driven culture. This leader will shape and execute strategies that drive ticket sales revenue across all segments, including season memberships, STE products, group and hospitality sales, single-game purchases, and special event opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of ticket sales representatives, ensuring alignment with the company's mission, vision, and values.
  • Help develop and implement comprehensive and innovative premium / group / hospitality / membership / individual sales strategies that will drive revenue and maximize attendance for all events.
  • Establishing annual goals and benchmarks to monitor individual and overall sales performance and adapt strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications, Promotions, and the Corporate Partnerships teams to create products and campaigns that enhance ticket sales and fan engagement.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, improve sales processes, and optimize team performance.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement by identifying skill gaps and providing training opportunities for the sales team.
  • Ensure that the sales team provides exceptional customer service, creating positive experiences for fans and clients throughout their ticket purchasing journey.
  • Directly address complex customer service issues in a timely manner in an effort to successfully resolve concerns and drive positive outcomes.
  • Serve as a key liaison to senior leadership, providing updates on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate and regularly communicate internally with all departments to fulfill partnership assets.
  • Develop associate program to provide training and sales opportunities for individuals seeking full-time employment in the sports industry. Lead recruiting efforts and maintain a strong sales network for future sales talent. Develop relationships with other organizations and local universities to establish a pipeline of future hires.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent in Sports/Event Management, Business, or Hospitality
  • 4-6 years professional experience in ticket sales, with previous departmental leadership
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills to develop data-driven sales strategies and identify growth opportunities.
  • Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets while maintaining team morale
  • Leadership & Vision: Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a team towards a shared goal while cultivating a positive culture.
