General Responsibilities

To oversee the finance, human resources, and facilities operations of the School of Health Professions.
To serve as a member of the Dean's Executive Team. To provide leadership, guidance, and education to
Department Chairs and the broader School of Health Professions community.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Serves as the School's Fiscal Officer and oversees all aspects of the school's finances
including analysis and forecasting, grant budgets, capital needs, and contingency planning. Ensures
cohesive fiscal reporting and support to all departments. Considers input from school leadership.
Recommends actions as needed to ensure the school's financial solvency. Works with departments
to ensure they are engaged in budget development and management. Monitors state, federal and
private revenues and expenditures as it related to the school.
2. Serves as the school's Human Resources Administrator and oversees the delivery of human
resources solutions through recruitment, performance management, professional development and
compliance for the School of Health Professions. Serves as a liaison with UAB Faculty Affairs and
UAB Human Resources on matters regarding performance, disciplinary actions, and employee
relations for staff and faculty.
3. Serves as the Facilities Officer for the School of Health Professions to ensure the appropriate
utilization of resources and to ensure security and safety measures are in place at all the School of
Health Professions spaces. Ensures all SHP spaces are maintained for the well-being of all
occupants. Leads the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the facility and
equipment. Leads major and minor construction, renovation and refurbishment projects to include
financial planning for each project. Takes responsibility for building security and access controls.
4. Oversees short and long-range space planning and creates proposals to meet space needs for the
School of Health Professions.
5. Reviews and analyzes departmental organizational and operational responsibilities,
needs, work, and projects. Makes recommendations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of
activities. Represents the School of Health Professions across UAB regarding appropriate
administrative responsibilities. Makes presentations to the school and other stakeholders. Uses a
variety of software programs in performance of the function's responsibilities including Microsoft
Office, Oracle, and various other finance and human resources software as provided by the
University.
6. Participates in the development and implementation of the School of Health Professions Strategic
Plan from a finance, human resource, facilities and space planning perspective. Ensures financial,
human resources, facilities and space data are collected and provided in a timely manner as
needed to facilitate reporting, strategic planning and decision making.
7. Reviews and approves all contracts involving the School of Health Professions. Reviews all
compliance requests including: External activity, Business Associate Agreements (BAA), HIPAA
privacy and security and data security for the School of Health Professions. Oversees and
participates in the work, support and communications for the Executive Risk Oversight Committee
(EROC).
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $132,790 - $215,790

Qualifications

Master's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
