Summary:
The Executive Steward possess strong leadership, communication and relationship skills.The Executive Steward is a leader position that is an integral part of the Food & Beverage team. This person supervises day to day operations of the Stewarding Team. As Stewarding Manager you will be responsible for maintenance and sanitation in all food production service areas, including dish room operations, banquet plating and food running. Additional responsibilities include managing the daily kitchen utility operations and staff: dishwashers and kitchen helpers. Scheduling staff, payroll duties, interviewing new steward candidates, resolving any performance issues. This person will also assume floor presence in the absence of the steward staff. As well as strive to continually improve employee satisfaction.

This is an annual salary position starting at $66,560.00. (Decisions regarding pay will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.)

Responsibilities:



o Orders and manages necessary supplies. Ensuring workers have supplies, equipment, tools necessary to do their jobs

o Conducts china, glass and silver inventories

o Enforces proper cleaning routines for service ware, equipment, floors, etc.

o Enforces proper use and cleaning of all dish room machinery

o Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example

o Supervises and manages employees. Manages all day-to-day operations. Understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence

o Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the departmental goals in a way that will be efficient and effective

o Ensures and maintains the productivity level of employees

o Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors

o Achieves and exceeds goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

o Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members

o Communicates performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position

o Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees

o Provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance

o Recruits, interviews, selects, hires, and promotes employees in the organization

o Trains employees in safety procedures

o Provides feedback to individuals based on observation of service behaviors

o Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and support the Peer Review Process

o Ensures utility staff is properly trained regarding sanitation, equipment handling and chemical usage.

Qualifications:
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
  • 3-5 years of steward supervisory experience
  • Hospitality Management experience preferred
  • Refined verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight (about50 pounds)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • English verbal and written required
  • Spanish verbal and written preferred
