Duties
\n

\n
• Serve as the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Specialist responsible for the access, disposal, transportation, and processing of all types of US and Foreign ordnance.
\n
• Serve as the technical authority on US, Soviet, Warsaw Pact, and other foreign chemical, biological, and conventional ammunition.
\n
• Responsible for the set-up and operation of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)/Recovered Chemical Warfare Material (RCWM) sites/activities.
\n
• Serve as Quality Control Specialist (QC), Site Safety Officer (SSO), and Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the organization.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

• Conditions of employment for PRP and Emergency Essential. Incumbent must be able to comply with the provisions of Army Regulation 50-6, and able to maintain Chemical Surety PRP requirements.

• Must obtain and maintain a stateside driver's license within 30 days of employment.
\n
• Must obtain and maintain a State Issued Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous Material endorsement within 24 months of employment.

• Must obtain and maintain a government driver's license within 30 days of employment.

• Must be a graduate of a DoD Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Course (i.e. US Naval Explosive Ordnance School).

• Emergency response and remediation activities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience:
\n
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 11 grade level in the Federal service which includes:
\n
(1) disposing of conventional, chemical, and/or biological ordnances/explosives; AND
\n
(2) ensuring compliance with DoD explosive safety requirements; AND
\n
(3) analyzing operational risks or hazards to ensure compliance with all site-specific safety requirements for EOD/UXO operations; AND
\n
(4) directing emergency response teams to found chemical and conventional munitions; leading lower grade Explosive Safety Specialist (EOD) II in performance of all duties including the preparation of Munitions Data Requirement (MDR) projects, set-up and use of non-intrusive assessment equipment (PINS, NITDS, High Energy X-ray systems, etc.) used for identifying the fill and condition of chemical, biological, and conventional munitions.

   Must be a certified Level II Radiographer or equivalent .

   Must be certified on the Portable Isotopic Neutron Spectroscopy (PINS).

   Required to have a minimum of eight (8) years combined military and civilian EOD/UXO experience.

   Required to have a minimum of 1 year of munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) experience as an UXO worker.
