Summary :

Reporting to the Library Facilities Superintendent, the Department Facilities Coordinator surveys and manages all facilities and operations related functions for the Library Depository location. The coordinator's primary function is to oversee the upkeep of equipment and supplies to ensure proper functioning and compliance with health and safety standards, including high-density mobile shelving, commercial HVAC units, electric utility vehicle, and industrial freight elevator. Reports equipment related emergencies to University Facilities Management as needed. Liaises with building security guards, campus police, emergency responders and members of the library staff to assist with managing emergency or problematic situations. Oversees materials fulfillment for the library's general collection. Transports materials to and from the depository for the Special Collections Research Center (SCRC), Blockson, and for the general collection by driving the library's electric utility vehicle; coordinates utilization of floor and shelving space for Access Services, the SCRC, and Blockson. Assists with assorted accessioning and surveying of collection material under the direction of SCRC. Hires, trains and supervises student workers to assist with depository operations. Assists with facilities and operational activities in the Charles Library, primarily relating to the public service desk and automated storage and retrieval system. This position will collaborate with SCRC and Blockson staff to establish workflows and policies related to those departments' use of the Library depository. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

At least one year of directly related experience working in facilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Valid driver's license.

*Knowledge of common safety procedures.

* Demonstrated ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively.

*Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

* Demonstrated project coordination skills with contractors and other external stakeholders.

*Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

*Ability to effectively interact and work with a diverse population.

*Ability to work independently within a framework of assigned responsibilities.

*Ability to occasionally arrive early (approximately 6:00 am) and open the facility to provide access for contractors.

*Ability to respond to alarms and other emergency situations outside of regular operating hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

* Designated as essential personnel during emergency closings.

Preferred :

*Bachelor's degree.

*Experience as a building operations supervisor or facilities manager.

*Experience working in a library, museum or gallery setting.

This position requires a background check.

This position is designated essential personnel.

This position will drive a university owned vehicle.
