Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs a wide variety of routine repair, maintenance, fabrication and installation on structures, buildings, machinery, equipment, furnishings and systems as assigned by Engineering supervision and management

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Provides services normally performed by these Engineering Trades: A/C, Autoclave, Carpentry, Electrical, Garage, Lock, Paint, Plumbing, Preventive Maintenance, Maintenance Routine/Rounds (MR.R.)
  • Provides assistance to other Engineering shops as necessary to complete work projects on schedule.
  • Installs and repairs equipment according to applicable building and safety codes.
  • Operates power and machine tools and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Selects appropriate materials for assigned work.
  • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.




Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • High School Diploma required. College or Trade school preferred.
  • 5 or more years applicable crafts experience. At least 2 years experience in HVAC, electrical, autoclave, locksmith, plumbing, advanced carpentry, or advanced painting trades.
  • Current CA driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Trade certification preferred.
  • Master level skills preferred. Certification or demonstrated proficiency in 3 or more trades. At least one trade must include HVAC, electrical, autoclave, plumbing, locksmith, advanced carpentry, advanced painting. Other eligible trades include carpentry, painting, Maintenance Repair Rounds (MR.R) or automotive mechanics.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement .

The estimated pay scale represents the typical range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate's experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
