Jacobs is seeking an Entry-Level Maintenance Mechanical Engineer at a test facility in Auburn Hills, MI.

BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for assisting a major client with the management and execution of their maintenance program. This individual will be an active and integral member of the maintenance engineering team and will participate in the daily work routine as necessary as instructed by a senior engineer, gradually assuming responsibility as experience allows.

The engineer's role will be:
  • Maintain equipment within the assigned area of responsibility in a state of readiness to support test production.
  • Assist in determining the appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) frequencies, ensuring PM content is accurate and appropriate, evaluating consumables selection for cost reduction, and estimating task duration, to name a few.
  • Address procedural and equipment issues that arise from the skilled trades comments requiring engineering evaluation and direction to improve specific maintenance procedures.
  • Write and screen the corrective maintenance (CM) work orders for opportunities to perform root cause failure analysis to prevent future failures.

Exposure to working with the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration systems, large fans, dynamometers, boilers, air handling units desiccant air dryers, pumps and miscellaneous facility equipment associated with complex test systems is included

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL TRAINING, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Position requires a Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Practical experience (cars, construction, equipment, mechanical projects) is a plus.
  • Must have an aptitude for understanding equipment and mechanical processes.
  • Experience with process system design, controls, safeties, and reading/understanding engineering drawings and specifications is a plus.
  • Understanding and helping implement of new and advanced maintenance management techniques a plus.
  • Will be taught to understand the skilled trade areas of responsibility and be able to communicate both written and oral.
  • Must be able to use a computer to perform word processing, use spreadsheets and project planning tools, as well as operate a computerized work management system is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to multi-task is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Provide preventive, corrective, and continuous improvement maintenance engineering support for equipment used for automotive vehicle test and development. Tasks to include equipment failure troubleshooting, corrective action analysis, repair parts specifications and ordering, repair work planning, scheduling, and coordination. Additionally, creating and modifying preventative maintenance procedures as necessary.

Behaving safely and proactively advocating safe practices is a must.

Must be able to use stairs, ladders, and work in and around equipment in a plant environment; Attendance is critical - normal 40-hour work week, some overtime may be required; Must be proficient at using a computer to perform word processing, develop spreadsheets, and manage maintenance activities via a computerized maintenance management system. Must be able to communicate with other Jacobs personnel as well as client maintenance staff.
