One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Duties Description Will be required to perform necessary functions for the Ray Brook office buildings and grounds. Such duties will include:
-Ray Brook office motor pool - assigning and checking in cars and trucks, cleaning and maintaining of motor pool vehicles.
-Daily monitoring/record keeping of public water, sewer, fuel, pellet bio-mass system, HVAC system, and fire alarm systems. Monthly AED, generator and fire extinguishers and weekly underground tank checks.
-Communicate with supervisors and staff about issues/concerns and corrections in a timely manner.
-Operation of a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment, including self-propelled and stationary machinery.
-Ensure that all motorized equipment is kept in good working condition.
-Assist in snow removal/salting using shovels, plows, snowblower and skid steer.
-Daily cleaning of building offices and bathrooms including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and sanitizing.
-Some basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical skills (ballast changes) required.
-Keeping written records of work performed and materials/labor used.
- year round building and grounds maintenance including mowing, weed whacking and trimming. Staining and painting may be required.
-May be required to supervise one or more people in completing routine job assignments.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
