JOB SUMMARY
  • Performs skilled tasks, inspection, preventive maintenance & repairs on a broad variety of domestic, commercial, & specialized equipment, including one or more of the following: HVAC, control equipment, chilled water, boiler, steam systems; Plumbing systems, pipefitting, backflow preventer maintenance, domestic hot & cold water, sewer; Electrical, electronic equipment, distribution systems supporting electrical and mechanical equipmentused in the operation of the hospital; Fire safety systems; or Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines. General technical skills: Performs basic tasks on electrical, fire safety, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, architectural, vacuum control, and nurse call systems, as well as patient beds and TVs. The Facility TL is responsible for direct supervision of the department's technical staff; provides mentoring & training for technicians & provides tradespecific expertise; & assists in maintaining the department's compliance and documentation with regard to regulatory standards. Maintains a clean, neat and safe work environment.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and meet auto insurability requirements as approved by Phoebe Putney Health System's insurance company.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travel.
  • May be scheduled as needed including overtime
  • As part of employment, occupant with be entering/leaving secure medication storage areas, please note these medications should not behandled by non-licensed personnel and it is occupants responsibility area remains locked when exiting. Any issues or concerns regardingmedications, can be addressed with a member of the Nursing or Pharmacy staff


Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Vocational / Technical Degree in HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Industrial Systems Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Industrial Electrical Technology, or Associate's Degree in other related course of study. (Required)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 6 - 7 years Electrical repair, HVAC, Mechanical, and/or Plumbing maintenance, installation and or contracting (Required)
  • 5 - 6 Years Healthcare or hospital facility maintenance setting (Preferred)
  • 1 - 2 years Prior supervisory experience with a Facilities Management department in a healthcare environment or hospital setting (Required)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
  • Preferred Certifications/Licensures: Type II EPA Refridgerant Transition and Recovery Certification or greater, Master Electrician

  • Must have working knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair responsibilities related to equipment and buildings in a healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to work with principles and mathematical formula associated with applicable trade(s)..
