The Virginia Department of Social Services, Division of Family Services (DFS) is currently seeking a Family Engagement & Resource Family Program Manager. This position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and consultation, and administrative support to the regional resource family program consultants; develop effective and efficient strategies and public relations campaigns to recruit foster and adoptive parents/families; increase the use of relative foster families as placement options; coordinate and oversee efforts to increase the use of family engagement practices state-wide including FPMs, CFTMs, and family search and relative engagement; and, plan and coordinate resource family support and retention efforts state-wide. The position will coordinate with other public and private foster parent recruitment efforts and manage contracts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Considerable child welfare experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience applying complex federal and state laws, regulations, policies and procedures that govern the resource family, foster care and adoption programs.
  • Experience leading practice improvement efforts in or related to family engagement and/or kinship care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member in implementing initiatives and supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated competency in interpreting, analyzing, and monitoring complex issues.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload with proficiency.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office applications.
Additional Considerations
  • Experience working with foster parents, kinship caregivers, and children and families within the child welfare system.
  • Experience working at a Virginia local department of social services.
