Why does the job exist?

The Family Resource Eligibility Specialist will work directly with families to help them understand their options, apply for services, and help them secure state-available benefits and resources as needed.

How does it get done?

• Perform interactive interviews to understand the families' unique needs and elicit eligibility information, including personal demographics, employment, financial, and other necessary information to determine eligibility for public assistance programs and services. 15%;

• Guide families through the application and re-application process. 10%;

• Explains regulations, rules, and policies to clients and apprises them of their rights, responsibilities, and eligibility for participation in various state-funded programs and services. 5%;

• Ensures accuracy and completion of application forms. 5%;

• Review and interpret information provided on a variety of forms by both the family and third parties to assist with initial eligibility determination. 10%;

• Resolves enrollment problems or discrepancies. 5%;

• Communicates both orally and in writing with clients and others related to the initial and ongoing eligibility determination while maintaining confidentiality. 10%;

• Maintaining detailed records of enrolled information. 10%;

• Stay updated with changes in enrollment procedures or regulations. 10%;

• Ensure Family Resource Center Navigators have updated information regarding enrollment procedures. 10%;

• Provide training as needed for Family Resource Center personnel, community providers, and other stakeholders. 10%.

Ideal Candidate

Experience as it relates to:
• Working directly with Children, Youth, and their families;

• Partner with Community Service providers as it relates to Children, and Youth;

• Working with Youth in a school setting;

• Determining eligibility for services that might be needed for the Children, Youth and Families;

• Conduct and complete assessments of safety, risks, strengths, and family needs;

• Developing Safety plans for the Children, Youth and Families;

• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings;

• Identify, provide, and/or arrange timely assessments/evaluations/ interviews;

• Conduct medical case management activities for eligible clients.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Employment Requirements

Must possess a current and valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
