JobDescription: This is a professional position for Adult Protective Services/Adult Services.
This position functions as a lead worker for Adult Protective Services/Adult Service workers and/or act as an expert resource and trainer. Employees serve as support for the supervisor by performing tasks such as ensuring staff coverage, workload balance, trainingstaff, reviewingcasefiles, andprovidingback-up supervisionofstaff. Employees may provide consultation on complex cases and may also work on complex case assignments such as individual and group therapy, crises intervention,case management,clientadvocacy, prevention,and education.Employees workwithinestablishedpolicies,proceduresandguidelineswith ahigh degreeof independence, seeking supervisory assistanceonlyinunusually complicated anddifficult cases/situations.Providespersons, families, or vulnerablepopulations with the psychosocialsupportneededtocopewith,neglect andabuse;ensuresthat reportsofsuspected abuse/neglect are assignedtoappropriatestaff;ensuresthatthelocaldepartmenthas staff on duty 24hours perday, sevendaysper week torespond toreportsof abuse/neglect; providesguidance,consultationandsupervisionto otherstaff intheabsenceof thesupervisor;preparessocial historiesandpsychosocialdiagnoses anddevelopstreatmentplans whichidentify problems, clinicalmethods fordealing withthem,and the meansbywhichservices willbe providedeither withintheagency orthroughreferral toothercommunityresources; representstheagencyinbothciviland criminalcourt proceedingswhich involves interpretinglaw,filingpetitions,preparing courtrecords,testifying beforethecourt, preparingwitnessesforexamination,and compiling evidence;providesdirectinterventionandservicedelivery fordifficult,complexsocialworkcases, andcoordinatescaseworkdevelopsandconductstrainingforstaff, internsandotherprofessionalsinthecommunity;supervises socialworkinternsby guidingthem intheirservicedelivery,assessingtheirstrengthsandweaknesses,and communicating with theschoolliaisonabouttheirprogress;conductsfieldvisits toresidential facilities,consultswith therapistandresidentialstaffand participatesinthe staffingand planningofmeetings;functionsasaleadworkerprovidingguidance andtrainingto otherstaff; and coordinates program function,developsprograms,and evaluatesmaterials.
MinimumQualifications: Minimumof aBachelor'sdegreeinaHumanServicesfieldorminimum ofaBachelor's degreeinanyfieldwitha minimumoftwoyearsofappropriateandrelatedexperiencein aHumanServices area(Section22VAC40-670-20 oftheAdministrative Codeof Virginia).
Comprehensive knowledgeof socialworkprinciplesand practices;humanbehavior andmotivationaltheory;law,policies,and regulationsrelatingtohuman services areas;investigating and interviewing techniques;principlesand processes for providingcustomer andpersonalservicestoincludeneeds assessment,meetingquality
standards for services,andevaluationofsatisfaction;principles,method sandprocedures for diagnosis,treatment,and rehabilitationof physicaland mental dysfunctions,andfor careercounselingandguidance;andtherapeutictreatmenttechnique.
Someknowledgeof supervisorypracticesand principles ifrequired specific assignment.

PreferredQualifications:

Requires valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license to include driving record that meets
