Piedmont Virginia Community College ( PVCC ) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. The FastForward/G3 Career Coach will assist students interested or enrolled in noncredit workforce training with career and educational planning services, program admissions, financial aid, successful training and credential completion, identifying work-based learning opportunities, and job placement and retention. Coaches will assist students in overcoming barriers to their success by connecting them to supportive services in their region, including the services of the one stop career centers, as appropriate. The coach will work closely with students before, during, and after their training and credentialing programs to provide support throughout the program and into the workforce.

G3 (Get Skilled, Get a Job, Get Ahead) is a tuition assistance program for any Virginia resident who qualifies for in-state financial aid and whose family income falls below an identified threshold. G3 can be used for designated programs in six of Virginia’s most in-demand industries, including Education, Healthcare, Hospitality & Culinary Arts, Information Technology, Public Safety and Skilled Trades, Manufacturing & Construction.

Responsibilities:
  • Outreach to individuals who indicate interest in FastForward and G3 programs
  • Provide career assessments
  • Develop individual action plans
  • Use EAB Navigate for case management of students
  • Assist students with job search, resume writing, interview, and professional soft skills
  • Communicate and build networks with a variety of workforce partners and stakeholders
  • Work with employers for job referrals, work experience or placement
  • Connect students with workforce development programs (e.g. WIOA , RVHI ) and credentials
  • Connect students with SNAP 50/50 AND Single Stop, when eligible
  • Understand and use labor market information in order to assist students with making career decisions
  • Connect students with resources including financial aid (e.g., WCG , FANTIC ) and supportive services
  • Ensure scope of work honors our commitment to DEI principles.


Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

  • Applicable experience in a related field or a combination of comparable education and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with changing priorities; and adhere to required timelines meeting work priorities and objectives
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Office 365, Google Workspace, Zoom, Teams, EAB Navigate and Canvas.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Desire to learn and grow as a professional




Additional Considerations
  • Additional education in a related field, such as counseling, social services, or education
  • Experience using Google Workspace, EAB Navigator and PeopleSoft SIS
  • Work experience in a higher education, academic/career coaching, or academic advising is preferred
