Federal Student Work Study-Transfer Center - Humanities and Sciences

Overview

Assist with front desk duties for the Transfer Center, maintain and distribute materials provided by our transfer partner schools, collect and maintain data on number and types of visits, and assist with Transfer Center events.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Greet visitors and answer Transfer Center phone.
  • Make appointments by phone and in person and serve as a check-in point for appointments for visiting advisors in the Transfer Center.
  • Maintain a stock of brochures and forms from transfer partner schools and provide to students on request.
  • Assist with on campus transfer events such as transfer fairs, articulation agreement signings, and special events held by transfer partner schools.
  • Direct students to various offices at Cincinnati State or to specific advisors at partner schools.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown for transfer events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Relationship and Contacts
  • Frequent contact with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Frequent contact with callers, visitors, and representatives of local colleges and universities.

Minimum Requirements

The hiring of student workers by Cincinnati State is premised on eligibility guidelines for federal work study employment: eligible applicants must be high school graduates or have attained a GED. Additionally, eligible applicants for work study positions at Cincinnati State must be at least 16 years of age on or before the date of hire.
  • High school diploma and at least 12 credits from Cincinnati State.
  • One year of office experience required.
  • Able to deal with people in a friendly, helpful, and tactful manner.
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to file documents accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Student must meet, and continue to meet, satisfactory academic progress.
  • Student must have completed FAFSA for the 2018/2019 school year.
  • Student must be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen.

Preferred Characteristics
  • Ability to work independently and accurately with detail and to perform effectively with general instruction.

Hours: 16 hours per week. Monday through Thursday.

Hourly Pay: $14.00 per hour
