Description

As an Electrical Construction Engineer you will be responsible for coordinating Engineering, Construction and Project Management & Quality Control in the completion of project construction execution plans, engineering and permits and project construction monitoring. The duties include supporting construction efforts and resolving electrical issues that come up in the field. You will be a vital part of the team setting quality and control monitoring project engineering coordination execution.

  • Assist the construction team on all construction aspects of solar energy projects for an assigned scope, from initial notice to proceed through final acceptance
  • Provides technical support for customers on sites throughout the US, ensuring a best in class customer experience and providing product and systems expertise to maximize customer value
  • Actively partner with project team to prioritize safety, quality, stewardship, leadership visibility and communication
  • Developing or overseeing the detailed electrical plans for new designs and projects
  • Participate in the conceptual development/estimating of the project and aid in its organization, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Evaluates installations to ensure they meet company's quality standards
  • Provides clear effective communication while training the service staff on how to identify and resolve issues as well as product usage and maintenance
  • Making determinations for equipment viability based on contractual project considerations such as DC nameplate, AC nameplate, Utility Interconnection, DAS, and OCP requirements
  • Assist in preplanning of projects including plan review and comments, manpower, project sequencing, material takeoffs, material requisitions and reviewing subcontractors scopes of work for technical accuracy
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with project managers, project engineers and client.
  • Work with Project Management to develop accurate construction schedule forecasts and to create daily reports to track construction progress, material deliveries, installation issues, tool issues and others site activity
  • Coordinating work with the construction an project managers including field engineering, troubleshooting and commissioning
  • Keeps up to date on technical knowledge and participate in educational training of new solar & storage technologies
  • Coordinating work with the construction and project managers including field engineering, troubleshooting and commissioning


Organization, flexibility, extraordinary customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include:

Providing Pre-Construction Support

  • Evaluate project design and engineering documents, handling their organization and distribution to necessary parties
  • Perform project specific tasks in preparation of Pre-Mobilization Kickoff Meetings
  • Assist in drafting purchase authorizations


Leading all aspect necessary for construction Support

  • Manage the quality assurance and quality control process as delineated in the project quality plan
  • Coordinate prep meetings, initial inspections, follow-up inspections, and punch list final inspections
  • Handle Civil & Mechanical, "electrical, and plumbing" coordination drawings, shop and as-built drawings
  • Coordinate creation of lift and formwork drawings


Administering Closeout Processes

  • Compile turnover documentation for specific projects deliverables and transfer to customer per the project specific quality plan
  • Assist Project Engineer and Project Manager with getting contract documents closed out with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Support the final inspections and punch list process with the customer for specific responsibilities


Other Duties as assigned, including:

  • Participation in project safety audits
  • Scheduling


Qualifications

  • EE degree from an accredited institution
  • Electrical PE preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with creating/reading single and three-line drawings
  • Current NEC knowledge
  • Confident working in CAD
  • 5 years of solar construction experience, of that at least 2-3 years in a leadership role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/reporting
  • Familiarity with creating/reading single and three-line drawings

  • Strong self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of construction math and strong problem solving skills.
  • Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and under budget
