Job Title: Field Network Services Specialist

Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated Field Network Services Specialist to join our team in Platteville, CO. This position is integral to supporting and maintaining network infrastructure, ensuring robust and reliable communication systems, and collaborating effectively with various teams to optimize overall network performance. The role involves a combination of office-based work and fieldwork, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality network services and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Services:
    • Provide comprehensive support for field network services, including the management and maintenance of radio and communication towers.
    • Assist in the automation of network processes and collaborate with enterprise network teams, ICS, and automation departments to deliver secure, efficient, and reliable network services.
    • Diagnose, address, and resolve network-related issues, particularly those involving CISCO and Cambium Networks.
  • Project and Asset Management:
    • Manage the entire project lifecycle for field network initiatives, encompassing planning, budgeting, execution, procurement, documentation, closure, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee asset and inventory management for field network infrastructure to ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • On-Call Support:
    • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule every 6 weeks (Wednesday to Wednesday) as part of a dedicated team of 6, providing critical support for network issues, specifically those related to CISCO and Cambium Networks.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with various business units to understand and meet project deadlines and objectives.
    • Utilize IT Service Management tools to effectively manage incidents and service requests, ensuring that all service levels are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Maintain a high priority on environmental protection, as well as the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities in all operational and transportation activities.
Tools & Skills:
  • Network Knowledge:
    • Possess a basic to intermediate understanding of network services (advanced expertise is not required).
    • Experience working with CISCO and Cambium Networks and familiarity with diverse communication mediums, including copper and fiber optics.
    • Competency in using IT Service Management tools (familiarity with ServiceNow is a plus but not essential).
  • Field Experience:
    • Previous experience in fieldwork and handling communication challenges is beneficial.
    • Knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, and industry standards is advantageous.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to apply technical knowledge effectively to solve network-related problems.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of project management principles, especially in scope and time management, with experience in managing simple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English, with the capability to engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience in IT or telecommunications will also be considered.
  • Experience in designing, supporting, or deploying network solutions.
  • Familiarity with RF technology, communication towers, and the design, construction, and commissioning processes of telecommunications facilities.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and automating repetitive workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage on-site construction teams and build effective vendor relationships.
