Created in 1978 by the New Mexico Legislature, the Department of Cultural Affairs represents New Mexico's dedication to preserving and celebrating the cultural integrity and diversity of our state. The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies. These include15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services. This position is responsible for directing and managing all fiscal, budget, accounting and audit operations for the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC). Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Why does the job exist?

This position exists to support, empower, and elevate the National Hispanic Cultural Center through film, media, rental support, and content creation at the Roy E. Disney Performing Arts Building. The position is designed to work with Performing Arts and business operations team via film rentals, cinematography-based programming, and to perform assigned duties of assisting as Front of House/Manager on Duty for rentals, providing support for load-in/load-out, conducting safety checks, and providing revenue, ASCAP, and other data reports for Performing Arts.

How does it get done?

This position will report to the Deputy Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center as part of the business operations team while coordinating closely with the performing arts technical supervisor and performing arts manager. It will be responsible for all aspects of film rentals at the NHCC, support and or lead film programming events at the center in consultation with the NHCC Artistic and Executive Director and will also support the Performing Arts Department with general Front of House/Manager on Daily duties as assigned for events. The Film Coordinator will also ensure that video content of NHCC events is edited and uploaded to the NHCC YouTube channel as needed.

Who are the customers?

This position serves visitors of all ages in the National Hispanic Cultural Center's local community of Barelas, greater Albuquerque, the State of New Mexico, and on a national basis in alignment with the mission of the NHCC by advancing, preserving, and promoting understanding of Hispanic arts, culture, and humanities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who holds a strong understanding of film and media within cinematography, broadcasting, or content creation and excellent organization skills, communication skills, and customer service, has a network of professional contacts in either local, state, or national settings that will be of support to building the brand, network, and programming happening at the NHCC. The ideal candidate is someone who has prior or existing work with organizations that support or empower Hispanic/Latina/Chicanx in cinematography, broadcasting, content creation, and or community impact work through the lens of media. Inside work in the film industry is a major asset in applying for this position, prior work with projection equipment is a strong asset in applying for this position it is a plus if the candidate has sales experience and background in renting venues candidate will provide references.

Minimum Qualification

Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting and moving from theater to theater. Some travel within the state may be required. Lifting equipment or moving items to storage or from one theater to another is also part of this position must be able to list up to 25 lbs.
