Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of IU Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a student's college choice, persistence, graduation and success. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of over 100 full-time staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military personnel, as well as other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses.

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for using knowledge of Federal, State, and Institutional Financial Aid programs to analyze, edit reports, and update information in the financial aid management system (PeopleSoft).
  • Pulls, analyzes, and updates reports in the financial aid management system; assess eligibility for financial aid and adjust awards accordingly.
  • Verifies student and parent information to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to student accounts.
  • Engages with students, campus departments, and external partners
General Responsibilities
  • Serves as an information resource to students, potential students, and their families; explains the policies and procedures involved in applying for financial aid and/or scholarships.
  • Processes and monitors files for applications and awards; updates as necessary for accuracy and completeness; ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Responds to email, phone, and in-person inquiries from applicants regarding status of application; notifies applicant of final decision.
  • Monitors financial aid and/or scholarship accounts on a continuing basis; ensures compliance with scholarship requirements.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support to department staff including word processing and scheduling.
  • Develops and updates written informational materials regarding the policies and procedures involving in applying for financial aid and/or scholarships.
  • Compiles and analyzes data and prepares various reports. Designates and completes audits on a regular basis.
  • May provide guidance to other financial aid/ scholarship coordinators; may take on complex or escalated customer issues, referring to manager as appropriate.

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 year in customer service, office experience, or related field
Preferred
  • Experience working with complex data and/or records services in a team environment

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
