Do you want to be at the intersection of Amazon Retail and AWS? Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Financial Analyst to join our dynamic Stores Tech Finance team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our rapidly growing business by providing financial analysis, forecasting, and operational insights to drive strategic decision-making. This is an exciting and highly visible opportunity to interact with business and finance leaders across World Wide Stores with the focus on improving efficiency, standardizing forecasting and planning practices, breaking down silos, simplifying processes, automating reporting through leveraging new tools. The role also includes supporting metrics to run the business, solutions for process improvement and supporting documents content for VP and SVP reviews.

Key job responsibilities

- Conduct financial analysis to identify cost savings opportunities and drive efficiency improvements

- Design, maintain, and automate financial reports based on collected data to support decision-making

- Own reporting processes at leadership level, providing commentary

- Support strategic financial modeling for initiatives, investments, and organizational changes

- Monitor and analyze key metrics, variances, and provide recommendations to leadership

- Participate in cross-functional projects related to enhancing financial systems and analytics capabilities

- Maintain data integrity, implement controls, identify and resolve data discrepancies, escalating complex issues

- Effectively communicate insights and address stakeholder requests in a timely and comprehensive manner

- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to scale and improve controllership

A day in the life

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

- Conduct financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities and drive efficiency improvements.

- Design, maintain, and automate financial reports based on collected data to support decision-making.

- Own financial reporting at the Stores Tech Leadership Team (STLT) level, providing IMR MBR commentary, Month End Close & Guidance commentary.

- Support financial analysis and modeling to support strategic decision-making, such as evaluating new initiatives, investments, or organizational changes.

Collaboration and Alignment:

- Collaborate with central finance teams (e.g., FP&A, Corporate Controller) to align on financial policies, processes, and reporting standards, ensuring consistency across the organization.

Financial Literacy and Training:

- Provide financial training and guidance to business partners and stakeholders, fostering financial literacy and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Performance Monitoring and Analysis:

- Monitor and analyze key financial metrics, performance indicators, and variances, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.

Process Improvement and Cross-functional Initiatives:

- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects related to financial systems, data management, and analytics to drive continuous improvement.

Data Integrity and Control:

- Maintain data integrity and implement controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Understand and apply basic rules, policies, systems, and procedures related to financial statements and Amazon policies.

- Identify, investigate, and correct data discrepancies, escalating complex issues as needed.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

- Communicate results and insights effectively to managers, department leaders, and business partners.

- Address stakeholder requests in a timely and comprehensive manner.

Continuous Learning and Knowledge Sharing:

- Actively participate in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership.

- Contribute to an inclusive and diverse work environment within the team.

Document best practices and share knowledge with the Finance community.

About the team

Stores Tech Finance team takes an important role of a financial steward to World Wide Stores. We leverage our analytical skills and business acumen to ensure efficient and strategic management of infrastructure costs, which are a significant expenditure for Amazon. Our work influences decision-making at executive levels and contributes to the overall financial health of the Worldwide Amazon Stores business. Our mission is to help our business to make the best investment decisions! Our team is responsible for managing the financial planning and reporting related to the infrastructure costs (called Infrastructure Market Rate or IMR) for the World Wide Amazon Stores business.

We play a crucial role in analyzing and optimizing these infrastructure expenses across Stores, Digital, and other business areas. Our key responsibilities include:

- Overseeing the financial planning and reporting processes for IMR at the leadership level within the Stores organization.

- Conducting in-depth financial analyses and creating models to evaluate new IMR initiatives, investments, and organizational changes related to infrastructure spend.

- Closely monitoring key performance indicators related to IMR and providing insightful recommendations to leadership.

- Driving cost optimization and identifying process improvements opportunities across Stores, Digital, and other business units to reduce overall infrastructure expenses.

- Consolidating financial commentaries and effectively managing multiple priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

- 1+ years of finance experience

- Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL and VBA skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

- Experience in TM1, Data Warehouse and SQL

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $51,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $109,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
