We conduct clinical trials through our affiliation with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a global leader in oncology research that has been offering and managing clinical trials in the community for over 30 years. Since its inception, SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA today.

The Controller will be responsible for managing the financial health of our clinical research practice. This includes overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, preferably with experience in healthcare, specifically in oncology and/or clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, providing detailed financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and variances to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings, working closely with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to senior management and other departments, fostering a collaborative and informed decision-making environment.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to enhance financial operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems; experience with Peoplesoft and Essbase is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
