The Financial Counselor is responsible for verifying benefits and eligibility for each patient being admitted to the Outpatient Program. The candidate is responsible for counseling the patients verifying the correct demographics and collecting co-payments at the time of admissions. The candidate would become a liaison with the facility and with IDS ensuring that charges are delivered daily and, that cash is reconciled.

Must demonstrate effective customer services skills; collaborate effectively with peers, physicians, and allied staff. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. AA or higher education preferred.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent

Experience:
  • A minimum of three (3) years? experience in admissions and/or collections procedures is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of managed care, interpretation of insurance coverage plans, co-payments and deductible schedules and payment plans is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of computers and business software program is desired.
Additional Requirements:
  • Flexible hours including evening hours until 9:00 PM and may be required to work occasional overtime to meet the needs of the department.

  • Knowledge of all code procedures.
