Shift : Monday - Friday, Day shift

Location: 265 E Rollins ST, Orlando FL

The role you'll contribute:

The Financial Counselor is responsible for communicating with insurance companies and other payers (as well as patients) to assure their accounts are current and complete. Makes financial arrangement for patients, which may include processing account adjustments in support of the pre-established financial guidelines of AdventHealth Medical Group.

The value you'll bring to the team:
  • Screen all patients coming in for day's appointments for overdue balances
  • Discuss over-due insurance balances with patients and get them involved in resolving of these balances
  • Screen patients who may be Medicaid eligible and direct them (or, very often, their family members) to the proper agencies to acquire Medicaid and/or charity
  • Answer questions from patients regarding their billing statements, their EOB's and any patient balances and resolves billing problems, correcting accounts when appropriate
  • Obtain medical records or other required documentation to assure timely payment of the account
  • Take calls from insurance companies and physicians offices regarding billing issues
  • Researches and accurately updates information when working the pre-collection report


Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must be willing to float to other FHMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary.

Preferred:
  • 2 years of medical billing experience
  • 1 year of ICD-9, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding experience
