GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Reporting to the Asthma Research Center PCORI Project Director, the Financial Manager is responsible for the post award day to day fiscal management of a $38 million dollar PCORI funded research project within the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division. This part-time position will support the financial management of the project as well as oversee both incoming and outgoing contracts with 24 sites for the project. This part-time position will be on a 20 hour per week schedule. This is a remote position with occasional in person meetings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In collaboration with Research Administration reviews and manages contracting with the project sponsor and 24 supporting collaborators
  2. Works closely with the Project Director and Principal Investigator managing the day to day expenses of the project
  3. Forecasts project expenditures on a monthly basis with PI and Project Director
  4. Spearheads requests for re-budgeting as needed from the project sponsor and external collaborators
  5. Coordinates with the division research administrator and research management office for financial and other post award tasks as needed
  6. Assists with financial reports and outgoing invoicing to sponsor on a monthly basis
  7. Reviews incoming invoices to subcontracts on a monthly basis
  8. Assists with the ordering and distribution of materials associated with the project
  9. Prepares and reconciles journal entries as needed
  10. Create and maintains summary financial reports for the project
  11. Performs monthly review and analysis of actual to budget variances for project spending
  12. Assists with strategic analysis in support of business decision-making
  13. Provides accurate forecasting for research and operation fund spending including both linear and non-linear parameters
  14. Effectively communicates with internal and external constituencies
  15. Assists with or leads projects and other analytical assignments on an ad hoc basis
  16. In collaboration with the department GA - assure efforts for all key personnel and staff are expensed as budgeted and per the sponsor guidelines


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associates or Bachelors degree required

2. 15+ years healthcare or research financial administration experience preferred

3. Familiarity with MGB systems preferred

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

1. Ability to manage deadline

2. Proficiency in MS Office applications and ability to learn new systems as needed, excel is particularly important

3. Astute attention to details, commitment to accuracy and integrity of all data, reports and communication

4. Requires ability to work effectively with project director, principal investigator and program staff

5. Strong communications and organizational skill

6. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in excel and be prepared to provide a sample of prior work done in excel
