A midstream pipeline company in downtown Houston is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to join this Engineering team. The Fire Protection part of this team is involved in suspension projects & Sustaining projects that involve fire protection. Anything from the start of a project, this individual will review it, scope it and make sure its code compliant for fire protection, as well a come up with engineering for it and review/approve design plans and make recommendations for changes if needed. The types of projects are categorized into facilities or asset types and protection system types. They work on projects involving bulk storage of flammable and combustible liquids and gasses. They will work on a lot of projects involving the transfer of flammable and combustible liquids through rail racks, LPG & LNG storage, and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as primary fire protection point of contact for expansion and sustaining project teams,
Provide technical support for expansion and sustaining projects by developing fire protection scopes of work, assisting with cost estimates, reviewing design documents, attending meetings, and answering technical inquiries,
Answer day-to-day fire protection inquiries concerning code compliance, system troubleshooting, etc.,
Assist Lead FPE with facility fire risk analysis, policy creation, training, and other tasks, as necessary.
Interacting with projects
Scoping, fire protection
Being SME on project team
Reviewing plans
Participating in commission fire protections systems
Basic hydraulic analysis (water supply analysis, system demand analysis)

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering Technology
Industrial fire protection
Familiarity with special hazards systems, phone systems, water spray systems
Familiarity with fire systems /design of systems
Performance of hydraulic calculations, hydraulic modeling
Ability to analyze fire hazards and develop the appropriate fire protection strategies for those hazards
NFPA
