Firmware Engineer Responsibilities


  • Architect, design, build and test firmware systems for furture AR, VR, Portal, or new technology teams.

  • Join a world-class team of experts exploring new concepts through rapid protoyping.

  • Collaborate across disciplines (electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware and software) to impact user immersion.

  • Quickly solve problems, generate big ideas, work with new technology, drive concepts into prototypes and envision the transition to high-volume consumerism.

  • Analyze, design, develop and debug firmware for AR and VR devices including novel sensing, imaging systems, haptic devices and audio prototypes.

  • Support all phases of SoC/ASIC development, including defining requirements for custom silicon architecture, firmware architecture, implementation, simulation, FPGA debugging, chip bring up and support systems.

  • Work with software teams on algorithm development on validated systems.

  • Drive implementation of the firmware development practices across teams and projects.

  • Telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. permitted.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Electrical Engineering or a related field and 36 months of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 36 months of experience in each of the following:

  • Driver and board-level system software development

  • Power management, boot loaders and RTOS

  • Board bring up and systems debugging

  • ARM based processors, microcontrollers and various communications protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, and I2S

  • Algorithms

  • Debugging tools such as bus analyzers and oscilloscopes

  • Protocol design, specification, and implementation

  • Debugging and problem solving in code bases and environments.
