Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Fitness Coach is responsible for supervision of members and serves as a primary customer service representative for The Wellness Center. Primary duties include welcoming/greeting and checking in members and guests, answering phone calls, being well versed with The Wellness Center programs, services and policies in order to answer questions from members, guests and prospects. The Fitness Coach may assist in facility tours and membership sales, as needed.
The Fitness Coach is also responsible for oversight of the members in the fitness area (floor circulation), customer relations, answering questions from members, safety, equipment cleaning, follow up phone calls to members as part of the Member Retention Program, basic maintenance, overall quality control, orientation appointments and health & risk assessment consultations. He/She must demonstrate the ability to design, implement, and evaluate individualized exercise programs for a diversified member population. He/She must demonstrate an understanding of basic science, nutrition, and cardio respiratory fitness.
He/She must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well with various member populations and people of all ages. He/She must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously while paying close attention to detail. Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills are also required. He/She must be willing to work a flexible schedule and work efficiently without close supervision. He/She must contribute and complete their share of the work to ensure that productivity standards are met or exceeded and exhibit excellent time management skills. He/She must work effectively with other staff members as part of The Wellness Center team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or GED required, some college with exercise background preferred.
0-4 years experience at a fitness center required, 1-2 years experience at a fitness center with a certification preferred.
CPR certification required.
