Description

 

Aquila's Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.

 

The pay rate for this position is $46,500 or $22.36/hour with a 40 hour work week. You can earn personal training commissions in addition to the hourly rate. The work week is Monday-Friday. The work hours on alternating days are 6 a.m.-2 p.m., 8 a.m.-4 p.m., 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and 12 p.m.-8 p.m. .Candidates must be able to work these hours on alternating days.

Responsibilities include:

 

• Teach group fitness classes
• Conduct personal training sessions
• Supervise exercise areas
• Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
• Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
• Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
• Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
• Explain all equipment
• Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
• Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
• Adhere to client's policies and procedures
• Attend staff meetings
• Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
• Perform daily administrative duties

 

Qualifications:

 

• B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or in related health/fitness field, OR
• Active NCCA accredited national fitness certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA or other NCCA accredited certification)
• Active CPR certification
• 1-3 years experience in supervising adults during exercises
• Strong group exercise instruction experience
